Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7: Biggest Upgrade Yet
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7: Biggest Upgrade Yet – With bigger screens, a thinner chassis, and a 200MP primary camera, Samsung is finally ready to strike back in the foldable market after falling behind Chinese rivals.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 weighs 215 grams, which is 24 grams less than the Z Fold6 from the previous year and less than a Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The Z Fold7’s slim design was aided by the new Armor FlexHinge and Armor Aluminum frame housing. When folded, it is 8.9 mm thick, and when unfolded, it is only 4.2 mm thick.
Samsung can now finally compete on that front because these dimensions match those of the newest Chinese foldables, such as the Honor Magic V5 and Vivo X Fold5.
However, the Z Fold7 has the biggest screens in the series in addition to being a thin and light foldable. More significantly, it has a wider 21:9 aspect ratio, which makes it more ergonomic for typing and everyday use. The main screen now measures 8.0 inches, while the cover display measures 6.5 inches.
With a variable 1-120Hz refresh rate and a bright output of up to 2,600 nits, both panels are still Dynamic AMOLED 2x. The cover screen has a 10MP selfie camera and Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protection.
On the primary 8.0″ display, Samsung used a new generation of Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG), which is 50% thicker than the previous model. Additionally, Samsung switched to a more conventional 10MP punch-hole camera in place of the main screen’s under-display camera. Unfortunately, S Pen support is no longer available either.
The Fold7 still has an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance. The Z Fold7 has a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back.
We can discuss the cameras while discussing the back. For the primary camera, Samsung included a 200MP sensor (ISOCELL HP2), which is the same sensor that it uses in the S25 Ultra. This sensor is 1/1.3″ (24mm equivalent) with an f/1.7 aperture and OIS. A new 12MP ultrawide module (12mm) and a 10MP 3x telephoto lens (67mm) join it.
In terms of chipset, Samsung chose the reliable Snapdragon 8 Elite for the Galaxy, which can be configured with 12/16GB RAM and 256/512 or 1TB storage. Support for the more recent Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 7 standards gives the Fold7 some connectivity advantages.
One UI 8, which is based on Android 16 and includes the entire Galaxy AI suite, handles the software side. Samsung promises seven years of security patches and seven Android OS updates. Additionally, Google’s AI Pro tier is being given away for free for six months to Fold7 users.
Despite Samsung’s numerous improvements to the Fold7, the battery remains at 4,400mAh and charges using the same 25W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless methods.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 will come in Jet Black, Mint, Silver Shadow, and Blue Shadow; the latter will only be offered online at Samsung.com.
The top-tier 16GB RAM and 1TB storage trim will retail for ₹2,10,999, while the entry-level 12/256GB model starts at ₹1,74,999.
Pre-orders are now available, and on July 25th, sales will open.
