Google Pixel Watch 4
For upcoming Tensor chipsets, Google has shifted from Samsung to TSMC. The Tensor G5, which will power the Pixel 10 series, is already making the rounds on Geekbench. But the forthcoming Pixel Watch 4 won’t be switching chipsets.
According to the most recent report, Google plans to use the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset, which is used in the Watch 3 and Watch 2. This 2022 chip features four Cortex-A53 cores and is fabricated on a 4nm node.
According to recent rumors, Qualcomm is developing a Snapdragon W6 with four A55 cores and a large Cortex-A78 core, but it appears that Google is not interested in that. Rather, the business might simply be waiting for its proprietary Tensor chip to be ready for the Pixel Watch 5. According to a leak that surfaced in late 2024, the Tensor chip will have the same 1x A78 + 4x A55 configuration as the W6, which is also the same setup as the Exynos W1000 that Samsung used for the Galaxy Watch8 series.
Let’s return to the Google Pixel Watch 4. Renders we’ve seen suggested a thicker body, measuring 14.3 mm instead of 12.3 mm. According to the most recent information, the 45mm model code known as “kenari”/FK23 and the 41mm model code known as “meridian”/FME23 will both have larger batteries, which could account for the chunkier build.
The 45mm model will have a 459mAh battery (+39mAh), while the Pixel Watch 4 41mm will have a 327mAh battery (+20mAh from the Watch 3 41mm). Those indicate increases of +7% and +9%, respectively. Given that the W5 Gen 1 chip isn’t the most efficient available, that’s not much. Although specific figures have not yet been leaked, charging speeds will also be increased.
The Pixel Watch 4 will be available in 4G and Bluetooth flavors in addition to a size option of 41mm or 45mm. Additionally, it will come in a variety of colors and bands, including metal mesh, two-tone leather, and Active Sport bands. Alongside the Pixel 10 series, we anticipate the release of the new Pixel Watch 4.
