Qualcomm Has A New High End Chipset On The Way also has its next launch event coming up later in September and this is the point at which it is expected to launch the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. That chip is SM8850- model and Rumors in China have been simmering that the SM8845 will be launching this year as well.
It is not going to be Snapdragon 8s Gen 5 because it will be more powerful than that but a notch less capable than Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. Sure, it is not certain yet what Qualcomm would name it, but some presume that it will be Snapdragon 8 Plus.
Qualcomm Has A New High End Chipset On The Way
It is marketed as having almost near identical performance to the previous year Snapdragon 8 Elite in terms of performance because it also has an all-big core CPU structure, just that it has custom-made cores by Qualcomm. It will be fabbed on a newer process and will borrow some peripherals of the 8 Elite 2 compared to the 8 Elite.
Therefore, on the whole, it should be an extremely small change compared to the first 8 Elite. As prolific Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station has tweeted, Oppo and OnePlus have already already made their plans to use the SM8845 and, along with vivo, phones powered by it will sport very large batteries, to the extent of 8,000 mAh.
It is indeed gradually sounding like the SM8845 is going to become the chipset of choice of the future flagship killer type devices, and will serve as a nice in-between in performance, between the 8s series and the 8 Elite series. It is, however, very similar in specifications to the original 8 Elite, and so it will be curious to know whether or not this SoC will replace the other or not.
