Samsung In Talks With OpenAI Perplexity. Samsung wants more AI models on its phone’s Galaxy.
For a long time, Samsung has been collaborating with Google in an effort to introduce Gemini to its Galaxy phones. Whereas the collaboration has been beneficial on the part of Samsung, recent reports indicate that the company is not keen on maintaining a strict relationship with a single external model of AI. It is reported that the company is discussing with some of the largest competitors of Google within the AI snowball.
Similarly with an incredibly Apple-like approach, Samsung is interested in expanding its external portfolio of AI agents. Bloomberg notes that the Korean tech giant has its eyes glued to bringing OpenAI and Perplexity on board. According to Choi Won-Joon, the president and COO at the mobile division of Samsung, the company is hoping to offer its clients more choices regarding the AI that they want to use in the Galaxy S26.
According to Choi, we were talking to several vendors. We are open to any AI agent, as long as these AI agents are competitive and could give the best user experiences.
Samsung In Talks With OpenAI Perplexity In June, it was said that Samsung was on the verge of signing a deal with Perplexity. The agreement would translate to preloading of services and technologies of Perplexity in the Samsung phones. Moreover, it is also said that search features of Perplexity can be incorporated with the Samsung Internet browser. It is possible that the technology of Perplexity can be used with Bixby assistant.
Through that report, it was articulated that Samsung could have been thinking of the assistant of Perplexity as the default setting. It was also reported that the two companies were discussing the development of an operating system that was to be called AI-infused as well as the development of an AI agents app. This application would be utilized to assist Perplexity and other Artificial Intelligence assistants.
